Thank you everyone for a great race!!

We can't tell you how grateful we are to see such a turnout this morning, both runners and volunteers, in what was definitely less-than-ideal weather. You all were just superb and your support is what made the first Rotary Run for Mikinduri possible. Preliminary figures show that we raised over $2,000 for the Children of Mikinduri and that's just the mark we'll have to beat next year. Of course, we will try to secure some better weather ...

We hope you all had a fun time today. We'll post times and pictures to the website in the next week, so stay tuned for that. In the meantime, stay dry, don't stand under anything metal while it's lightning out .. and keep running.

WEATHER UPDATE

09/06/08 20:00 - Get your raincoats and you running slicks handy .. all events are a go, as of 8PM! Our main concern right now is with the potential for lightning and we will continue to monitor this tomorrow morning. For tonight, stretch and try to think dry thoughts. Thanks again for being part of the Rotary Run for Mikinduri and we'll check back in tomorrow, early morning.

09/06/08 08:30 - As of right now, all events are still on. But please, continue to check this page for further updates. Our foremost concern is the safety of runners and spectators, and we will continue to track Hanna and the forecasts for the rest of the day. We know Islanders can handle rain and some blustery wind, and so we will NOT cancel the Rotary Run for Mikinduri unless there is a definite danger. Thank you to all who have signed up and volunteered for this event and we (as of now) still look forward to seeing you tomorrow!

Inaugural Run

We have 2 great distances set up for you, on a couple of great courses.

Wii Competition

While the runners are away, we'll have plenty of stuff for friends and families to do. There'll be a couple of Wii consoles set up, for friendly matches or for some intense competition - you choose! We'll have games, balloons and face painting for kids of all ages and lots of food and drink.

Benefitting

We're proud to donate proceeds to benefit a fantastic cause: Mikinduri Children of Hope, and other select International projects of the Rotary Club of Stratford. Every runner out there will mean better clothes, better food and really needed help for the people of Mikinduri.

Parking:	Please keep the entrance to the Metro/Home Hardware parking lot from Kinlock clear! This will be the Finish line. Please use either the entrance from the TransCanada highway (just past the Metro Credit Union) OR park in the Sobey's parking lot (please, not too close to Sobey's - they will be open), and cross the street to the Metro Credit Union.
Course Description:	Our 15K (course map) is a tough, grueling hill run, that's sure to test the strongest of hearts! It also makes a great training run for the PEI Marathon. But, don't worry, for those into enjoying the last bit of summer our 5K (course map) is just the kind of fun, sociable run that gets your Sunday started right.
